2017 PROJECTS


Each year the Kiwanis Club of Northwest Austin sells peaches to raise funds in support of various community projects and charitable activities. We are proud of the support that the people of Austin give us by purchasing our peaches. We are equally proud of the charitable and other community activities that we are involved with and providing $14,000 of contributions.

Here are our current projects:
 

Adventures of Lifetime Learning – helps youth and adults with special needs to develop lifelong independence.


Any Baby Can – donate funds to provide help and hope to some of the youngest, sickest, poorest children in our community and their families.


Assistance League – assistance to children (and adults) through clothing, classroom supplies, Toy Cart at Dell Children’s hospital, and scholarships.


Austin Partners In Education – provide quality academic and mentoring programs for Austin ISD’s highest need students.


Austin Child Guidance Center – assistance and services to children that have learning and /or mental health issues.


BookSpring – provide books and tools to children and families so they can succeed in life.


Comfort Crew – helps military families and children to cope with deployments, injury, death and separation.


CKI at UT Austin — College students learning and supporting Kiwanis missions and activities.


Down Home Ranch—provide both financial and volunteer support of activities for a residential and day program for people with intellectual disabilities.


Horse Boy Foundation – bring healing effects of horses, nature and supportive community to children with autism.


K Santa—provide Christmas food and gifts for 100 families in need.


Key Club at Anderson High — High school students learning and supporting Kiwanis missions and activities.


Kids Against Hunger – sends packaged meals to places near and far where needed most.


Libraries of Love – establishes libraries in Uganda and Kenya.


Multicultural Refugee Coalition – empower refugees to self-sufficiency through education and personal growth.


Project Graduation – fun drug-free & alcohol-free night for graduating seniors at Anderson HS.


Spirit Reins—support their work of using equine therapy with youth who are dealing with problems.


Safe Place — serves victims, both spouses and children of domestic violence and abuse by offering youth an outreach program both day and night.


Settlement Home – cares for teens and young adults who come from chaotic, abusive and neglectful backgrounds.


Supper Club – Foundation Communities – provide a meal for low income residents in affordable housing community.


Texas Ramp Project — contribute labor, and funds, when necessary, to build ramps for people with physical limitations.


Texas Oklahoma Kiwanis Foundation — support scholarships for young people and fund disaster relief.


Upbring – break the cycle of child abuse and neglect keying on education, health, life skills, safety and vocation.


We Are The Chorus — support for costumes, scenery and other performance costs for a chorus made up of young adults with special needs and their singing buddies.


Contributions to many other good causes — Capital Area Food Bank, Salvation Army, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Water to Thrive, Up With People, The Refuge, Hopefully Sow, etc.
